Every feature in BoardSnap — built to ship the board.

BoardSnap is an iOS whiteboard capture and AI summarization app. It includes on-device VisionKit scanning, brand-aware AI summaries, tri-state action items with subtasks, project-scoped AI chat, pinned context, and an offline capture queue. Here's how each feature works and why it exists.

VisionKit scanning — on-device, automatic, instant

Apple VisionKit detects the whiteboard in the camera's live view in real time. A yellow overlay appears when it finds the board's edges. Hold steady for a half-second and tap.

Perspective correction happens automatically — no corner-dragging, no manual crop. The output is a straight-on, flat image of the board regardless of the angle you shot from.

VisionKit runs on the iPhone's Neural Engine. The camera feed is processed locally, not sent to a server. The corrected image is what passes to the AI for analysis.

AI summaries — structured, readable, brand-aware

Every board produces a summary with a consistent structure: a summary paragraph, key decisions, action items, and open questions. The length calibrates to the board's content — dense planning boards produce longer summaries, focused decision boards produce shorter ones.

Brand-awareness: paste your website URL into a Project once. BoardSnap AI reads your site and incorporates your product language, your terminology, and your tone into every summary produced in that Project.

Summaries are editable. Every field is inline-editable after generation.

      Tri-state action items and subtasks

Action items have three states: open, in-progress, and done. Tap once to start, tap again to complete. The third state — in-progress — captures work that the board already showed as underway.

Subtasks generate automatically from the surrounding context. A single action item like "revise the onboarding flow" might expand into subtasks drawn from the board's annotations: copy revision, design pass, A/B test setup.

Every task and subtask is editable inline. Reorder, rename, delete, or add items at any point.

Projects — memory and brand for every engagement

A Project groups related boards under a shared identity. Projects hold:

        • Brand context: your website URL or a custom context note, applied to all summaries
        • Pinned context notes: standing context that persists in every AI chat session — sprint goals, key constraints, team agreements
        • Board history: every board ever snapped in the project, searchable and accessible

The free tier supports 1 Project. Pro supports unlimited Projects.

          AI chat per board (Pro)

Pro users can open a chat interface on any board and ask questions about its content. "What was the decision on the auth approach?" "List only the items that are still open." "What did this board say about the Q3 launch timeline?"

BoardSnap AI answers from the board's content, with the Project's pinned context and brand notes in scope. The chat is not a general-purpose AI assistant — it knows the board, the Project, and your context. That scope makes it accurate.

Chats are persistent — return to any board and continue a prior conversation.

            Offline capture queue

Snap any board without a network connection. VisionKit runs on-device, the image is stored locally, and the board is queued for upload and analysis.

When the device reconnects — Wi-Fi, cellular, or hotspot — the queue flushes automatically. Boards analyze and appear in the Project with no user action required.

Useful for: off-site workshops, basement conference rooms, flights, and any environment where signal is unreliable.

              Frequently asked

Can I import photos already in my Camera Roll?

Yes. In addition to live capture, you can import existing photos from your Camera Roll. The same VisionKit processing and AI analysis apply.

              How does pinned context work?

Pinned context is a note you write once per Project that persists in every AI chat session. Use it for standing information — current sprint goal, key product decisions, team composition, or anything the AI should always know about this engagement. It's included in the context window for every chat turn and every summary.

Does BoardSnap work with Apple Pencil sketches on paper?

BoardSnap is designed for whiteboard surfaces, but it reads any photographed hand-drawn content — paper, flip charts, notebook pages. Apple Pencil digital sketches from apps like Freeform or Concepts can be imported as screenshots.

Can I share a Project with teammates?

Multi-user shared Projects are on the Pro roadmap. Currently, each Project is tied to the account that created it. You can share summaries and board content via copy-paste to any team tool.

How many boards can I store in a Project on Pro?

Unlimited on Pro. The free tier caps at 30 boards in 1 Project.
