BoardSnap is coming to iPad.

BoardSnap is an iPhone-first whiteboard capture and AI summarization app. iPad support is next on the roadmap. If you have an iPad and an iPhone, you can use BoardSnap on iPhone today — your projects and boards will be ready when the iPad version ships.

Download on the App Store Free to start. Pro from $9.99/mo or $69.99/yr.

Why iPad makes sense for whiteboard work

The iPhone is the right device for capturing a whiteboard — it's always in the room, it's fast to pull out, and VisionKit's detection is optimized for one-handed, angled shots.

The iPad is the right device for reviewing, editing, and acting on what the board produced. The larger screen makes summaries easier to read and edit. Split-screen lets you have BoardSnap open alongside a task tool or a document.

Capture on iPhone. Review and edit on iPad. That's the workflow we're building toward.

What the iPad version will add

The iPad version of BoardSnap is in development. The priority features for iPad are:

Larger summary editing view — editing a long summary on an iPhone screen is functional but tight. The iPad display makes inline editing comfortable for longer summaries from dense boards.

Split-screen workflow — BoardSnap alongside Notion, Linear, or your email client. Review the summary and write the follow-up at the same time.

Apple Pencil integration — annotate summaries directly. Circle action items, draw connections, add handwritten notes to a summary page.

Board review interface — a board-gallery view optimized for the iPad's larger canvas, letting you scan across a Project's full history at a glance.

Timeline for iPad: we're not announcing a specific date. It's in active development and comes after we've locked the core iPhone experience.

      Start on iPhone today

Waiting for iPad before trying BoardSnap means waiting for a feature when the main product is already in your pocket.

Boards you snap on iPhone live in your account. When the iPad app ships, your projects, boards, summaries, and action items are there — synced, searchable, and ready to use on the larger screen.

The free tier on iPhone gives you 1 project and 30 boards with full AI summaries. That's a full sprint, a full workshop series, or a full semester — captured and summarized before the iPad version ships.

What iPad adds to the consulting and workshop use case

Consultants and facilitators are the group most likely to benefit from the iPad version. Here's why.

Workshop deliverables require editing. A six-board workshop produces six summaries. Organizing them, synthesizing themes, and writing the client document requires a work surface — not a phone screen.

The iPad becomes the synthesis station. iPhone captures the boards during the day. iPad is the review and delivery tool at the hotel that evening.

Apple Pencil adds another dimension: annotating summaries by hand, marking priority items, drawing connections between themes across boards. That workflow isn't possible on a phone.

          Mac and web: later

BoardSnap is iOS-first. iPhone is now. iPad is next. Mac and web are later.

The reasoning: whiteboards are physical, and physical boards are captured with devices you carry into rooms. The iPad extends that use case to review and synthesis. Mac and web are useful for long-form editing and integration workflows — they'll come when the iOS experience is fully mature.

          Frequently asked

Can I use the current iPhone app on iPad?

The iPhone app can run on iPad in compatibility mode — it works, but it's not optimized for the iPad display. The dedicated iPad version will be a native experience designed for the larger screen.

Will the iPad version cost extra?

No. iPad support will be included in the existing Pro plan and the free tier. A single subscription covers iPhone and iPad.

When is the iPad version coming?

It's in active development. We're not announcing a specific release date. Sign up for updates at [email protected] or follow @boardsnap on X for announcements.

Will the iPad version support Apple Pencil?
