Answer

Import from camera roll — not just the live camera.

Short answer

Yes. BoardSnap lets you import whiteboard photos from your iPhone's camera roll in addition to capturing them live with the camera. If you already took a photo of a board earlier, you can import it into BoardSnap and run the full AI analysis on it.

## How to import from camera roll

When you're in a BoardSnap project and ready to add a board, you'll see the option to either capture live with the camera or import from your photo library. Tap the import option, select the photo from your camera roll, and BoardSnap runs the perspective correction and AI analysis on it.

## When this is useful

You forgot to snap during the meeting. Happens to everyone. As long as you took a photo on your iPhone (or any camera), you can import it later and get the action item list.

Photo was taken by a colleague. If a teammate snapped the board on their phone and AirDropped it to you, import that photo into BoardSnap and analyze it.

Older boards you want to process. Going through old meeting photos and want to retroactively extract action items from a few boards? Import and analyze them.

Multiple angles. Sometimes a board is too wide for one shot. Import two overlapping photos of the same board and analyze each section separately, then combine the action item lists.

## Photo quality considerations

Imported photos work best when:

  • The board fills most of the frame
  • Lighting is even — no heavy shadows or glare
  • The photo is in focus
  • The board hasn't been partially erased

VisionKit can still correct perspective on an imported photo, but the correction is only as good as what's in the image. An off-angle, blurry import will produce a less accurate result than a fresh live capture.

## Does import count against my board limit?

Yes. Each analyzed board — whether captured live or imported — counts as one board toward your project limit.

Frequently asked

Can I import a screenshot of a digital whiteboard like Miro or FigJam?

Yes. BoardSnap can analyze screenshots of digital whiteboards. The AI reads the content regardless of whether the source was physical or digital.

Can I import photos from iCloud or another cloud service?

If the photo is in your iPhone Photos library (including iCloud Photos), it's accessible through the standard photo picker. Photos stored only in other cloud services (Google Photos, Dropbox) would need to be saved to your iPhone camera roll first.
