## Dark mode is the default

Most apps treat dark mode as a secondary option — they build a light UI first and add dark mode later. BoardSnap inverted that. The app was designed and polished in dark mode from the start. The dark interface matches the aesthetic of the boardsnap.ai website and reinforces the product's focused, builder-oriented feel.

## How it works on your device

BoardSnap respects the iOS system appearance setting:

• If your iPhone is set to Dark — BoardSnap appears in its native dark UI
• If your iPhone is set to Light — BoardSnap adapts to a light appearance
• If your iPhone is set to Automatic (dark at night, light during the day) — BoardSnap follows along

You control dark/light mode at the iOS level via Settings > Display & Brightness > Appearance. BoardSnap responds to whatever you set there.

## Why dark mode works for a whiteboard app

Whiteboard photos are high-contrast images — white boards with dark marker. A dark app UI frames them well; the board images pop against a dark background in a way they don't against a white one. Functionally, a dark UI also reduces eye strain in the dim conference rooms where you're often reviewing a just-captured board.

## What it looks like

The app uses a dark background palette with gradient accents — the same cyan-to-magenta gradient identity as the website. Action items use clear state-indicator colors (open, in-progress, done) that work well on both dark and light backgrounds.
