BoardSnap is built around Apple VisionKit — Apple's on-device computer vision framework that detects a whiteboard in real time and auto-corrects its perspective. VisionKit runs entirely on the Neural Engine inside an iPhone, which is why BoardSnap can straighten a board, read every line, and produce a summary in about ten seconds without sending a raw image to a server first.
There is no direct Android equivalent to VisionKit that provides the same perspective-correction quality at that speed. Building a comparable experience on Android would require rebuilding the entire capture pipeline from scratch — it's not a simple port.
## What Android users can do today
If you're on Android and want something similar, your best current option is a plain camera shot uploaded manually to a multimodal AI (like ChatGPT or Gemini with a photo attached). That workflow gets you a rough summary but misses the things that make BoardSnap distinct:
- No automatic perspective correction
- No project-scoped memory
- No brand-aware summaries
- No tri-state action items with auto-generated subtasks
- No offline queue
It's a workaround, not a replacement.
